Your Child Is Not "Too Much" For Us
Some programs treat accommodations like a hassle. We built our whole platform around kids who learn differently. This page is the heart of the program.
The Honest Legal Part First
Choosing a homeschool program — including participation in the Steamboat Legacy (ESA) program — is a parental placement under federal special-education law (IDEA). That means IEPs and 504 plans stay with public school districts; a homeschool provider doesn't run them, and we won't pretend otherwise. Families seeking special-education evaluations or IEP services can contact their local school district's special education department. That door stays open to you.
What We Do Instead
Here's what we CAN do, and we mean it:
If your child has special needs, or you want something specific addressed, the program adapts to your child as best we possibly can. Bring us the old IEP from their district days. Bring us the 504. Bring us a sticky note that says "he shuts down when he's rushed." We'll read it, we'll listen, and we'll build their learning around it.
Accommodations cost you nothing extra. Zero. The program adapting to how your child learns isn't an upgrade package. That's just how we teach. (Educational-therapy-style supports like executive-functioning and study-skills training are part of how the program is built.)
Built Into the Platform, Not Bolted On
These aren't promises about what we'd do for your child. They're features your child's dashboard already has:
- Daily mood check-in. Every day starts with "How are you today?" Great, okay, meh, rough, or really hard. No wrong answer. The day's work meets your child where they actually are.
- An anxiety-aware AI tutor on every lesson. Patient, kind, never condescending. A child can say "I don't get it" fifty times and get a gentle fifty-first explanation. And it's built with a serious safety net: every message runs through a crisis-language check, and if a student's message trips it, the tutor stops the lesson, responds with care, and an alert goes to the parent right away. Support for the child, eyes for the parent.
- Every concept explained multiple ways. Story version, visual version, step-by-step version. Your child picks what clicks and switches anytime.
- No timers. No streaks. No public grades. Practice problems aren't graded at all ("wrong answers are how brains learn"). Mastery checks allow unlimited tries, and tries never count against the student.
- Pause anytime. Progress saves automatically, to the exact spot. Come back in five minutes or five days. For a child with anxiety or ADHD, that one feature changes everything: a bad hour doesn't wreck the day, and a bad day doesn't wreck the year.
- Built-in breathing break. "Need a minute? Two slow breaths." Right on the dashboard.
What Costs Extra (and What Doesn't)
| Included in tuition | May carry an added fee |
|---|---|
| Grade-catered core curriculum | One-on-one tutoring sessions |
| Accommodations (the program adapting to your child) | SAT/ACT prep help |
| Everything in the platform list above | Specialty electives (baking, fashion, design, etc.) |
| Parent check-ins and progress reviews | Other extras by request |
Any extra fee gets quoted to you BEFORE it's added, depending on the request. You'll never open a bill and find a surprise.
Tell us about your child. The real version, not the polished version.
